EL 9943 - Clare: a 2.3 km base-metal corridor that was never drilled below 90 metres

"Silurian volcanic belt between the Woodlawn and Captains Flat mines"

In 1974, Western Mining Corporation mapped a gossan and IP anomaly along a 2.3 km corridor at Clare, drilled four shallow diamond holes, hit sulphide in both drilled sections, and then left. Nobody has drilled there since. No hole went deeper than about 90 m vertical.

CAADIA Metals now holds the ground as granted Exploration Licence 9943 (25 August 2026), covering the whole Bungendore Corridor.

Figure: clare-long-section: Clare corridor long section, looking west. All historical drilling stops at or above about 90 m vertical, and both diamond sections carry base-metal intercepts just above that line. There is 1.8 km between CD5 and CD2 with no diamond hole, and nothing below 90 m has been tested. Historical 1974 data; not reported in accordance with JORC (2012).

Why a geologist should look twice

  • Massive sulphide, fully recovered. CD2 cut massive pyrrhotite–pyrite on a chloritic-shale/limestone contact with 100 % core recovery. The last 6 m of the hole returns rising Pb–Zn–Ag values, so the hole ended in mineralised rock, not in a fade-out.

  • An exhalative vector in CD1. The CD1 Cu–Zn zone at 80.7–84 m (≈ 9,300 ppm Cu, ≈ 9,400 ppm Zn, 7.0 g/t Ag) sits inside a 1.4–2.9 % Mn, 13–18 % Fe halo, with lost core directly above it. The true width is unknown in both directions. (Hand-recorded values; certificates not yet sighted.)

  • A drill target that was designed and never drilled. WMC planned CD3 on percussion hole CP23 (3,650 ppm Pb, 5,700 ppm Zn at 14–17 m) and a >7 % PFE IP response. The hole was never drilled.

  • About 800 assays nobody has used. The percussion sample sheets include a hole abandoned while still in ≥ 0.14 % Cu over 10.7 m, and a 1.12 % Cu sample elsewhere. (Provisional readings; page-read pending.)

  • Gold, indium and antimony were never measured. The 1974 assay suite was Cu–Pb–Zn–Ag only. All four diamond holes (62 boxes) are still held at the Londonderry core library, so the first test needs no drilling and no land access.

The risk, stated plainly

Two kilometres east, and inside the same licence, Jododex drilled an IP anomaly of the same amplitude in the same year. It turned out to be pyritic black shale. Clare differs because it has a mapped gossan and ore-tenor intercepts, but the black-shale question is the central risk. The programme is built to answer it first, and cheaply.

A gated programme: the cheapest test first

Gate

Work

Expected cost

1

Core re-logging, petrophysics and multi-element re-assay of the 62 boxes

≈ A$50–65k

2

Modern IP/AMT and ground EM, designed around the Gate 1 results

≈ A$120k

3

4–6 diamond holes to 250–350 m beneath CD1, CD2 and CD3

≈ A$0.75–1.4M

Each gate has an explicit kill criterion. If the core shows the IP is graphite or barren pyrite, the programme stops at Gate 1.

What's available under NDA

CAADIA's 64-page technical synthesis covers:

  • a 10-fact evidence table, with every value tagged as verified, provisional or narrative-only;

  • a hole-by-hole scorecard and the original WMC cross-sections;

  • four targets with success and kill criteria;

  • a model-discrimination table covering proximal VMS, distal/replacement and barren shale;

  • a single verification register and JORC Table 1.
